Community Shabbat: The Frozen Chosen
Friday February 8, 6:15 pm
In February our Community Shabbat theme is the Frozen Chosen. Come out of the cold and warm up with your Hevreh community at this wintertime Community Shabbat! Led by our 6th and 7th grade religious school classes, as part of services and dinner, we will explore the topic of Chosenness.
While some interpretations could be off-putting, this topic invites us to consider what is special and unique, on a personal level, about being a part of the Jewish community.
Community Shabbat features a catered dinner and special abbreviated Shabbat service and is sponsored by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. Community Shabbat is free and open to the entire Hevreh community. RSVP will be available soon.
Hevreh is once again collecting DOUGH-nations for hamentaschen baking!
Each year Hevreh’s Religious School students fold and bake hundreds of hamentaschen to be enjoyed during our celebration of Purim. We ask that dough be made and brought in advance by community members.
Dough can be dropped off any time until March 10 at 10 am, when our students will fill and fold the holiday treats. Hamentaschen will be given out at Hevreh on Wednesday, March 20 for Purimshpeil, Friday and Saturday March 22 and 23 during Shabbat, and sold as part of the 7th grade class charity fundraiser during Purim Carnival on Sunday, March 24.
